Space Princess Art, Part 2: Thugs Grabbing Dames!

This is installment two, which features a lot of thugs, toughs, and ne’er-do-wells grabbing dames. Perhaps we will see dames with guns in a later installment valiantly defending themselves.

My comment:

There was lots of dame grabbing back in the day. Scholars debate why this is.

Some say it was because women were generally held in low regard by our fathers, and therefore were depicted as being menaced by mooks.

Others say it was because women were generally held in high regard by our fathers, and were worth fighting to protect, and therefore were depicted as being menaced by mooks because a dame worth saving must need saving in order to make the cover of the magazine.

My theory is that those of the first camp secretly regard themselves, and perhaps all men, as being sadistic mooks; whereas as those of the second regard themselves as being the heroes who shoot, clobber, and pummel the mooks and save the girl.

In any case, the generation that invented the torture porn movie is in no position to criticize the popular entertainment of any other generation, except, perhaps, those who patronized the gladiatorial circuses in the days before Saint Telemachus.
