One is reminded of the Penitential Act:
” I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words,in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault”
It continues
“I didn’t think about the subtext of what this joke might communicate. The intent was not to dunk on poor or working class folks… but impact matters more than intent and clearly this has potentially harmful impact. ”
‘Harmful’ here is taken to mean anything which may possibly be interpreted as dishonorable or disrespectful to anything held sacred by the left, that is any of their mascot victim groups. Note that truth or falsehood does not matter. Note that intent does not matter.
Note that the moral code has no standard. The only standard of radical materialists is to judge by pain and pleasure. What causes pain as bad. What causes pleasure is good. But since they’re also moral relativists, only the victim of any act of disrespect is allowed to judge whether the words have caused pain or not. But since they’re also Marxists, the only victim who’s pain counte as real are those identified by Marxist theory as being sacred, in this case, the poor and working class.
“… therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.”
But in their system there is repentance but no forgiveness. There is sin, but no salvation.
It is like make-believe guilt, however. One has the catharsis of confession but there’s no crime to confess.
