This Man Speaks for Me
Perhaps my readers are curious about my take on the alleged NFL controversy.
I have no idea who this gentleman is, but his words and attitude capture mine exactly, and, if I am not mistaken about the character of this nation, captures the heart and soul of the mainstream and silent majority.
The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found in the NFL Game Operations Manual. It states:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition.
It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country.
Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are being divided by those who seek to conquer us. Lies attempt to make us hate each other. The liars are the enemy of both.
There are two worlds here. In one world, a racist President of a racist America is seeking to silence the First Amendment rights of an oppressed minority, out of sheer devilish hatred.
In the other world, the President speaks the obvious truth that while every man can make any gesture of protest as he likes on his own time, when paying customers show up to a game, it behooves the team owners not to allow the athletes to show signs of contempt for the flag.
Neither world is able to speak to the other, because one of the worlds is one-sided, and holds that the other must be shouted down and beaten into silence, never heard, never heeded, and never permitted to speak.
Guess which world is willing to speak to the other? Guess which one is not?
